INTEGRATION

tapko.app + Jira

Your client clicks on the broken thing and types a sentence. A Jira issue appears in your project with the screenshot attached and the full technical context one click away. No licence for the client, no translation step for you.

The gap this closes

Jira is built for engineers, and it shows. Required fields, workflows, components, an issue-creation screen that assumes you know what a sprint is. It is the right system of record for a development team and the wrong one to point a client at.

So agencies do not point clients at it. They let feedback arrive however it arrives — WhatsApp, email, a screenshot with no URL — and then somebody on the team reads it, works out which page and which browser, and retypes it into Jira as a properly formed issue.

That retyping is the cost. It is unbilled, it happens at the worst possible moment in a project, and it is where detail goes missing. The Jira integration deletes it: the report is structured when it is made, and it arrives as an issue in the project your developers already work in.

What lands in the Jira issue

Captured on every reportWhere you get it
Report title and the client's own words Summary and description
Screenshot of the page as the client saw it Attached to the issue
Console logs, when the widget captured them Attached to the issue
Exact page URL and where on it the client clicked One click from the issue
Browser, operating system and user agent One click from the issue
Viewport size and breakpoint One click from the issue
Priority and status of the report One click from the issue

“Cannot reproduce” is usually a missing-context problem, not a real one. Every issue arrives with the browser, the device and the viewport already recorded.

Setting it up

1. Authorise Atlassian. Open Plugins in your tapko.app account and click Connect on Jira. You approve on the Atlassian consent screen and are returned immediately. No API token to generate, store or rotate.

2. Choose the project and issue type. In the project you want to sync, pick the Jira site, then the Jira project, then the issue type — usually Bug, sometimes Task. Each tapko.app project points at its own Jira project, so one client's reports never land on another client's board.

3. Share the project link. Send your client the link. From their next report onwards, issues appear in the project you chose.

Disconnecting is the same route in reverse — Plugins, Disconnect. The stored authorisation is deleted and syncing stops. Issues already in Jira stay where they are, with their attachments.

Your client never sees Jira

Every seat you add to Jira for a non-technical stakeholder is a seat you pay for, a person you have to train, and a view into your backlog you probably did not intend to give. Most agencies decide the admin is not worth it — and then absorb the cost somewhere less visible instead, in the time it takes to translate messy feedback into clean issues.

tapko.app asks the client for nothing. No Jira licence, no Atlassian account, no tapko.app account, no browser extension. They open the site, click where the problem is, and type. The structured issue appears on your side.

That is the part that decides whether a feedback process survives contact with a real client. The reports you never receive cost more than the ones that arrive badly formatted.

Frequently asked questions

Does my client need a Jira licence?

No, and this is the main reason agencies use it. Jira is priced per seat, so inviting a client to report bugs means paying for them, training them on a tool built for engineers, and giving them visibility into a backlog they should not see. Your client clicks on the page and types a sentence instead. The issue appears on your board.

What ends up in the Jira issue?

The summary and the client's own description, with the screenshot attached — and console logs too, when the widget captured them. The issue links back to the tapko.app record, which holds the exact page URL, the spot on the page the client clicked, and the browser, operating system, viewport size and breakpoint captured at the moment of the report.

Which issue type are reports created as?

Whichever you choose per project. Most teams pick Bug so reports flow into an existing triage workflow, but Task works if client feedback is tracked separately from engineering-found defects.

Can different projects sync to different Jira projects?

Yes. The Atlassian connection is made once for your account, and the destination Jira project and issue type are chosen per tapko.app project — so each client's feedback lands on that client's own board.

Does the Jira integration cost extra?

No. Every tapko.app integration — Jira, Slack, ClickUp, Trello, Asana, Notion and Zapier — is included on every plan, including the free plan, which covers one project with no credit card and no expiry.
